It’s been a big week for Jennie. Just this past Monday, the Blackpink member made her runway debut in Capri, where she closed out the show for Jacquemus’s 15th anniversary atop a seaside cliff at Casa Malaparte on the Italian island. Now, the pop star is showing off her fashion chops once again, as she teams up with Adidas for the launch of the brand’s latest Clot Gazelle sneaker by Edison Chen, which hearkens back to the basics of what made the superstar first fall in love with fashion.

To coincide with the release, Jennie posed for a campaign that leans into the sporty aesthetic Adidas is known for. The Odd Atelier founder looked cozy as she sported all-white ensembles featuring frilly skirts, track pants, and zip-up sport jackets. But of course, the focus is on the sneakers, which feature a rich, molded outsole, along with a suede and textile upper.

It’s hard not to see hints of tennis-core in these looks, which has been all the rage ever since the release of director Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers in April. But these athletic pieces were also mixed in with beachier articles, like a mesh shirtdress layered over a bikini set, and a lacy white cami that looked like it would be right at home in an episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty.

“Working with the team on set for the shoot was a huge honor, and everything came together naturally,” Jennie tells Harper’s Bazaar in an exclusive interview. “I love the design of the new white Gazelle. It’s super sleek yet classic, which is what I go for in my own personal style. Having worked with Adidas Originals many times before, the chance to front a campaign was surreal.”

While this may have been her first time fronting a solo campaign for the brand, Jennie has had a long-standing relationship with Adidas. As part of Blackpink, the singer has collaborated with the sportswear giant on a number of occasions, including when the hitmaking K-pop girl group starred in the brand’s “Home of Classics” campaign in spring of 2023.

And in her personal life, the singer is often seen sporting Adidas shoes as well—whether she’s posing in front of billboards featuring her face, or merely heading home after a fashion-filled night at the Met Gala. It was no surprise that, when asked what she likes to wear when she’s not hitting the red carpet or the stage, Jennie simply replied, “Casual, simple attire and any cute pair of Adidas sneakers!” And it was this personal connection the superstar wanted to bring to the new Clot Gazelle campaign.

“The look I’m wearing in the campaign is incredibly me: clean, classic, and effortless,” she said. “I loved using the color tones of the [Gazelle] and putting my take on it through fashion.”

Jennie—whose full name is Jennie Kim, and who also took the stage name Jennie Ruby Jane after starring in HBO’s The Idol in 2023—has been tied to the fashion world practically since her debut. After becoming a part of Blackpink in 2016, she was a global ambassador for Chanel a mere two years later. Since then, she’s starred in campaigns for other major labels like Calvin Klein and Jacquemus, with this Adidas shoot being the latest.

For those who have been tracking the singer and rapper’s style throughout the years, it’s evident she likes to switch things up, whether she’s choosing a power suit or a frilly feminine set. But just as with the new Clot Gazelle, she always brings an individualized touch to whatever she’s in. “I definitely have an adventurous side to my personal style, and I want my personality to shine through in everything I wear,” Jennie says. “I would say [my style is] versatile as well, because I like to be unpredictable with my choices.”
