BLACKPINK Has Surpassed 1.5 Million Pre-Orders for Their 2nd Full Album “BORN PINK” in Less Than a Week
Pre-orders for BLACKPINK’s 2nd full album (LISA, JENNIE, ROSÉ, and JISOO) surpassed 1.5 million copies in just a week.
BLACKPINK’s agency YG Entertainment said on the 18th that “We’re expecting the best record as a K-POP girl group. Considering how there’s still a month left until the release of the full album (Setpember 16th), reaching 2 million or even 3 million in album sales is achievable”.
BLACKPINK will first make a comeback with their pre-release single ‘Pink Venom’ on the 19th, before releasing its full album. The group will take part in MTV’s VMA, which is one of the four major pop music awards in the U.S., as well as kicking off a large-scale world tour in the order of North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
The group is expected to break new records as their influence has grown over the past years in the global music market. In fact, BLACKPINK has been breaking their own records in global charts and YouTube by earning the ‘First, Best, and Most’ title whenever they released a new song.
Their first full album “THE ALBUM” ranked second on the U.S. Billboard 200 and the U.K. official charts, and also earned the title of being the first K-pop girl group to become a million seller. Considering how the group has established themselves even more and their expanded fandom, the industry predicts that they will also break their previous record this time around too. Their records on YouTube, which changed to consumption behavior of popular music, are unrivaled. Their cumulative number of views on YouTube is close to 25 billion, and they currently have more than 76.7 million subscribers. They have the greatest number of subscribers on YouTube among all male and female artists around the world.
